With the 2024 Australian Open just a few days away, the tournament unveiled its men’s draw for the event. Top seeds Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Jannik Sinner headline the group of players competing in the first Grand Slam of the season.
Djokovic, the world number one, will be looking to add an 11th Australian Open title to his collection. He will open up the tournament against a qualifier. Alcaraz, who missed last year’s event due to an injury, will get 37-year-old Richard Gasquet in the first round.
There will be plenty of must-see opening-round matches in the Australian Open men’s draw. Some of those eye-popping first-round matches include 2020 US Open Champion Dominic Thiem against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Australian Alex de Minaur against former world number three Milos Raonic, and seventh seed Stefanos Tsitsipas against 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini.
With Djokovic and Medvedev on opposite halves of the draw, there is the potential for a rematch of the 2021 Australian Open final. There is also the possibility of a 2023 Wimbledon final rematch, as Alcaraz and Djokovic could meet in the final in Australia. Medvedev, Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Holger Rune are in the bottom half of the draw, while Djokovic, Sinner, Tsitsipas, and Andrey Rublev are in the top half.
Projected Quarterfinals Based On Seeding
(1) Djokovic vs. (7) Tsitsipas
(4) Sinner vs. (5) Rublev
(3) Medvedev vs. (8) Rune
(2) Alcaraz vs. (6) Zverev
Djokovic is the favorite to win the 2024 Australian Open. He sits at +100 at DraftKings Sportsbook to capture his record-extending 25th Grand Slam title. Rounding out the top three favorites are young stars Alcaraz (+350) and Sinner (+700).
The 2024 Australian Open is set to begin on Jan. 14. The tournament will last 15 days, closing on Jan. 28 with the men’s singles final at Rod Laver Arena.
