The number 1 team in the country of Gonzaga will get their first test of the year against the number 5 team of Texas. Both teams are coming off of dominating home openers. Gonzaga won 97-63 against Dixie State, and Texas won 92-48 against Houston Baptist.
What’s At Stake?
This game will be the first of four ranked games for Gonzaga. With the soft conference schedule, the Bulldogs need to prove themselves early as the favorite to win the National Championship. While on the other sideline of Texas, the Longhorns starting lineup is all seniors. They know how to win, and the new transfer from Utah, Timmy Allen, could provide the help that could lead to an upset in Washington tonight. The question is if they can play like they are in the season opener on the road in a hostile environment.
MUST WATCH PLAYERS
Gonzaga Chet Holmgren: Remember the viral clip of him crossing Stephen Curry. Well, that man turned out to be the potential 1st pick in the 2022 NBA draft. Holmgren got a double-double in the season opener with 14 points and 13 rebounds. He will be challenged physically more on the boards tonight, but note Texas allowed 16 offensive rebounds in the season opener.
Texas Timmy Allen: I must say I feel bad for Timmy Allen. Allen averaged 17 points and six rebounds last season with Utah. Timmy helped Utah get one huge win against Kentucky a couple of years ago, but Utah’s basketball program hasn’t been great, except against Kentucky. Allen could be the missing piece to the puzzle for Texas to get back to the Final Four for the first time since 2003.

| Gonzaga Starting Lineup | Texas Starting Lineup |

Injury Report

This game will be the first of many great wins for the Bulldogs and this game being at home. I see no upset happening tonight in Washington.
