76ers trade James Harden to Clippers

It has finally happened. The trade that we have all been longing to finally come, James Harden has finally been dealt once again. Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the news around 2 A.M. ET. The trade came slower than both sides had hoped for but good news is, its finally done.

Harden had requested a trade in June when he opted in on his $35.6 million player option. He went on to call Daryl Morey a liar and mentioned that their relationship was irreparable.

Harden was expected to take part in Tuesday’s practice at the team’s Camden, New Jersey, facility.

James Harden had yet to play for the Philadelphia 76ers this season before the team decided to trade him. The Clippers are also getting PJ Tucker and Filip Petrusev.

The return package for Harden includes:

  • Marcus Morris
  • Robert Covington
  • Nicolas Batum
  • KJ Martin
  • 2028 (unprotected) first round pick, two second-round picks and a pick swap. The Clippers will also be routing another first-round pick to the 76ers.

The Clippers are sending a 2027 first-round pick swap to Oklahoma City, clearing the way for OKC to send a 2026 first to the 76ers.

Harden, who grew up in Southern California, expressed the desire to play for the Clippers. The move reunites him with Russell Westbrook, his former teammate with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets. It’ll also add another scorer to a lineup that features Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

The 10-time All-Star has been one of the league’s top players for the past decade, earning three scoring titles and the 2018 NBA MVP Award. He led the league in assists last season.

The goal is to win a championship this year and with Harden now in the mix that seems plausible.

More to come. Refresh for updates.
