As most baseball fans know, Aaron Judge is on pace to break Roger Maris‘ 61 home run record set in 1961. Tonight he tied another record that has fans and myself astonished. He tied Hank Greenberg (1938) and Sammy Sosa (1998) for multi home run games in one season with his 11th tonight.
Aaron Judge is Breaking Records
With his 58th and 59th home run of the season tonight. Judge will have an opportunity in the last 20 days of the season to do something truly remarkable. Not only can he break Maris’ record that he has been chasing all season. Now he has a chance to stand alone with the most multi home run games in a season, in the history of Major League Baseball.
To think of all the great players to come before him. Even in the last 30 years with Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Ken Griffey Jr., and Sammy Sosa having some of the best home run seasons ever. Judge will be at the top of that mountain.
At such a young age and in a contract year, many words can describe what he is doing. One of them is “historic”. He bet on himself by turning down a 7 year 230 million dollar contract and it is safe to say that bet has paid off.
And Taking Names
The New York Yankees lineup is stacked from front to end, head and shoulders above his peers stands Aaron Judge. Yankee fans are screaming “Pay That Man”.
If Aaron Judge can not only set these two records in one season, win the MVP and somehow win the triple crown. It is a fact we are witnessing one of the best seasons by a single player, maybe ever.
With a 20+ home run lead for most home runs on the season. It is safe to say, this season belongs to the Judge!
