The Red Sox have just won their first series of the season after a 9-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. While the starting pitching was shaky to say the least, the lineup is exceeding expectations already. In their first three games, the Red Sox have scored nine runs in each game. The offense has been very nice to watch already, but there is one player who has stood out and even made history. That player is Adam Duvall. In his debut for the Red Sox, Adam Duvall sets the record straight and made it clear he belongs in Boston.
Adam Duvall Sets New Record in Great First Impression
Adam Duvall is one of the newest additions to the team and is already making himself known in Boston. In his first three games for the Red Sox, he is batting .571 with two home runs and eight runs batted in. This hot start to the season landed Duvall in the history books, becoming the first player in Red Sox history to hit nine extra base-hits in his first three games with the team.
While the sheer dominance at the plate has been a great sight to see, the most memorable moment from this series also came from Adam Duvall’s bat. In the second game of the series, Duvall knocked a walk-off home run over the monster to secure a 9-8 win in the ninth.
This performance from Adam Duvall is certainly a nice surprise. Duvall had his struggles in the first half of last season, but seemed to turn things around in the second half. The Red Sox must’ve seen his turnaround efforts and signed him to a one-year, $7M deal back in January.
The Red Sox will move onto their next opponents at Fenway against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the Sox are looking to capitalize on the Pirates’ sub-par play style and continue to get off to a hot start in 2023. Kutter Crawford will start for the Red Sox and will face Johan Oviedo.
The Red Sox will face off in the first game against the Pirates on Tuesday, April 3rd. The game can be watched on NESN at 7:10pm EST.
