Adam Fantilli is a freshman hockey player at the University of Michigan, who is expected to be drafted in the top three in the upcoming 2023 NHL draft.
Adam Fantilli USHL Career
Adam played two years in the USHL for the Chicago Steel. In his first year in the USHL, he recorded 18 goals and 18 assists in 49 games played. When it came to the playoffs, he scored eight goals and one assist in 8 games. Fantilli was named to the second-team all-rookie and tied for sixth among rookie scorers. The Chicago Steel won the Clark Cup and Adam Fantilli won the Clark Cup MVP.
During the 2021-22 season, he played 54 games and scored 37 goals and 37 assists. The 37 goals were the second most in a single season for the Chicago Steel program. He was named a USHL First Team All-Star.
NCAA
In August of 2021, he committed to the University of Michigan and got to play alongside his brother Luca Fantilli. Adam made his NCAA debut on October 7, 2022. During his college debut, he received two assists. In addition, the very next day he scored his first NCAA goal. He continued his success on the ice by receiving at least one point in every college game he played. The next weekend he scored his first career hat trick against Lake Superior State. Fantilli went on to score a career-high four points by having one goal and three assists.
Adam was named Big Ten First Star of the week when he got seven points in one weekend series. Yesterday, he was named the NCAA National Player and Rookie of the Month in his first month in the NCAA.
Can Adam Fantilli be the 2023 First Overall Draft Pick?
Fantilli was only a few weeks shy of being able to be in the 2022 NHL Draft. For the upcoming 2023 NHL draft, many people think Connor Bedard is untouchable as the first overall pick. Bedard currently plays in the WHL for the Regina Pats. So far, he has played 15 games and has 13 goals and 16 assists. Connor Bedard is an elite hockey player and will be drafted in the top three next draft. However, Adam Fantilli has been making a name for himself. Being able to have the success he has had in his first six college games shows he is a top contender to go first overall. However, there are still a few months and a lot of hockey to play before we can say who will be the first overall draft pick.
