Alabama’s Formula To Winning Another National Championship

The Alabama Crimson Tide will once again be playing in the National Championship game. The opponent is a familiar foe, the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama was able cruise over Cincinnati by running the ball. However, it won’t be that easy this time. What is the best way for the Tide to approach this SEC Championship rematch? Let’s break it all down.

Flip The Script

Georgia has the best run defense in the country. By attacking them the same way they attacked the Bearcats, that will play right into Georgia’s hands. Cincinnati had two of the best corners in the nation. Alabama countered that by running the ball. By doing so, Gardner and Bryant were out of position and couldn’t do what they do best. Bryce Young should have the green light to throw 60 or 70 percent of the time in this game. Obviously running the ball is still important to keep the Bulldog honest and set up the play action pass, but that should not be the emphasis. Young threw for 421 yards and three touchdowns in the SEC Championship. While Georgia has the fifth ranked pass defense per the NCAA, they struggled against the fourth ranked Tide passing attack before. Look for a similar game plan in that regard.

Play Point Guard

With John Metchie unable to go, Jameson Williams is the top target. Williams caught seven passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia in the first go around. However, he will draw more attention. If Williams is one on one, take that all day long. If he is double covered, Slade Bolden and Ja’Corey Brooks have been reliable receivers down the stretch. Brooks gave them a spark against Auburn to help start the come back with an amazing catch in the back of the endzone. Additionally, keep an eye on tight ends Cameron Latu and Jahleel Billingsley who at times will get rewarded for doing the dirty work by getting short yardage and red zone targets.

Turn Will Anderson Loose

Will Anderson Jr is one of the best pure pass rushers in the country. Bringing Anderson and the entire house to Stetson Bennett from the start of the game will force him to make plays he may not be able to make. Can Bennett be the sole reason why Georgia wins this game if the run game is shut down? Can he make the NFL caliber throws?

Confuse Stetson Bennett

Nick Saban will have some wrinkles in the game plan on the defensive side that nobody has seen yet. Don’t be surprised if Henry To’oTo’o, Josh Jobe, or Morgan Battle are lined up in a formation that they haven’t shown all year. If Bennett doesn’t know what he’s looking at, major mistakes will be made. Those mistakes could prove costly. Georgia has to take into account that Alabama shut down the vaunted run game last time they played. If this happens again, that will put more pressure on the QB which is not ideal for them. Overall, this is how Alabama can lock up another National Championship, and bring another trophy back home to Tuscaloosa.
