No. 4 Cincinnati Bearcats face off against No. 21 Houston Cougars in Cincinnati, Ohio this Saturday at 3:00 pm CST for the American Athletic Conference championship. Cincinnati is going into this game 12-0 and Houston is going into this game 11-1. Houston won the first-ever American Athletic Conference Championship game in 2015 and has not returned until this year. Cincinnati has been in the Conference Championship game in 2019 and lost and returned last year and won.

What’s At Stake?

Houston does not have that much at stake. They are looking to spoil Cincinnati’s chance at the College Football Playoffs. They definitely are looking to get that American Athletic Conference Championship. Cincinnati has a lot riding on this game and could change the whole dynamic of their season. With this win, they could be the first group of five teams to be in the College Football Playoffs. If they were to loss this game then they will more then likely be out of the top four.

Players To Watch

Cincinnati has two big players on offense that need to have great games for them to win. Desmond Ridder (Quarterback) is have an outstanding season and is looking to show that he is one of the best players in college football. He has 3,000 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. Jerome Ford (Running Back) is having a good year with 1,055 rushing yards and has 17 touchdowns. They both will have to have great games so it can open up the whole game for them.

Houston needs to have great games from two of their top offensive stars. Clayton Tune (Quarterback) is having almost the same season as Ridder. Tune has 3,013 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. A great quarterback needs a great receiver like Nathaniel Dell who has 1,027 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. These two will have to have great games to beat Cincinnati and kick them right out of the College Football Playoffs.

Final Thoughts

This will be one of the Championship games that will really decide if a team will be in the College Football Playoffs. Cincinnati wants to be the first team from the group of five to be in the Playoff especially before the move of Conferences. Houston wants to show that they should be ranked higher then they are and also deserve the recognition. This will be a game to watch on Saturday.
