The Anaheim Ducks only have 21 points on the season. However, they had back-to-back wins against the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers with help from Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal.

Anaheim Ducks Goalie Named First Star of the Game

Lukas Dostal is the San Diego Gulls (Ducks AHL team) main goalie. Dostal was recalled earlier this week as John Gibson and Anthony Stolarz are injured. In tonight’s win against the Edmonton Oilers, Lukas was the first star of the game making 46 saves. He had a save percentage of .939. This was his sixth NHL start and third since his call-up this week. The Oilers outshot the Ducks 23-2 in the third period but were only able to get one goal on Dostal. “It’s such a cool moment, getting a ‘W’ in this building, playing against McDavid, Draisaitl, and those guys,” Dostal said. “I’m just so happy for the boys that we were able to get a ‘W’.”

John Klingberg Joins Anaheim Ducks History

John Klingburg is the second Ducks defensemen to score a game-winning goal in consecutive games. Sheldon Souray was the other Ducks player to get that achievement in 2013. Brett Pesce did this for the Carolina Hurricanes. This goal was his third in the past two games. After having one goal in his first 23 games this season Klingberg said, “Trying to tell myself to shoot more and it was nice to see it go in”.

Other Standout Players in Tonight’s Game

Ryan Strome had a goal and an assist tonight and has been a great addition to the Ducks roster. Mason McTavish had two assists making him third in rookie scoring. McTavish is only five points behind the Seattle Kraken’s Matty Beniers. Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 12 games as he had a goal and an assist tonight.

The Anaheim Ducks play the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night in hopes to continue this winning streak.
