Carlo Ancelotti is impressed with what he has seen from Vinicius Tobias so far in the pre-season camp. He particularly admires his offensive abilities and his speed of learning. The Italian told his assistants, “He has high quality, and one of the things that caught my attention is the speed of his learning, and we will definitely rely on him in the future.” It’s evident that he has to improve his defensive awareness and positioning but his talent is undeniable. He will be included in the squad list for the USA tour and will get game time to showcase his talent.
According to Diario AS, his roadmap for the 2022/23 season is clear. He’ll spend the full season with Castilla under Raul, and he’ll alternate between first team and Castilla training. Unfortunately he can’t register for the first team as all the non-EU spots are occupied. He can still get called up to the first team as La Liga allows academy players to be called up regardless of if they’re registered or not.
This video showcases his passing range and understanding of the game. He knew when to progress the ball and when to play the simple pass back. He’s only 18 years of age so a bit of naivety in his game can be expected. Throughout this match, his 1v1 defending and anticipation was great.
Vinicius Tobias is one for the future and he’ll be eager to impress the fanbase and his coaches in the pre-season tour. Being around the dressing room with all the great players in this team will aid his development both as a footballer and a man.
