Andre Drummond Claims He Could Be In The Hall of Fame

In order to make the NBA Hall of Fame, a player must have at least one elite skill. Andre Drummond believes he makes a good case to be in the Hall of Fame as an elite rebounder. In fact, he believes he’s the best rebounder of all time. He had recently mentioned this on ‘The Comfortable Pod‘.

“I used to play 40-plus minutes. I was a star — All-Star, All-NBA, I’ve done it. Hall of Fame candidate, best rebounder ever… I’m the best ever. I’ve done great in my career. I think I have a chance to be a Hall of Fame player due to what I’ve done in my career. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’m in the top 20 for being in the Hall of Fame, so I have a great chance.”

The claim may not be as ridiculous as it sounds.

Throughout the course of his career, Drummond has a total rebound percentage of 24.85 – which is better than Dennis Rodman, Artis Gilmore, Reggie Evans, Rudy Gobert and any other great rebounder of the last 50 years. Drummond’s 2018 26.23 total rebound percentage is the fifth-best single-season rebounding percentage of all time.

Drummond is one of the best rebounders that the game has ever seen. Combine that with his solid defense and some efficient offensive seasons got him onto a couple of All-Star teams and an All-NBA nod in 2016. His career is definitely undervalued, he’s been a productive player for every team that he’s been on. However, Drummond as an NBA Hall of Famer just isn’t something I think I could really get behind. He’s a perfect example of what a traditional NBA Center should play the game, but the position has entered a transitional period over the last decade.

Drummond, 30, might be the best rebounder of his generation. He has led the league rebounds four times, is a beast on the defensive glass and averaged 4.3 offensive rebounds a game for his career. He’s a two-time all-star, who has averaged a double-double throughout the course of his career.

Even though, Drummond might not make the Hall of Fame in my eyes, the case isn’t ridiculous.
