Anthony Davis hot streak early on in the season has been a surprise for NBA and Lakers fans. Over his last four games, Davis has been scoring over thirty points per game. This spark comes as Lebron James has been sidelined due to injury. Many know the talent that Davis possesses but sometimes one could forget. He has always had a hard time staying healthy but is looking to rewrite that narrative. The Lakers don’t look like playoff contenders but seeing Anthony Davis carry the team like this could very well change that.
Lakers vs Nets (11/13/22)
Lakers vs Nets is prime time and no wonder a superstar like Anthony Davis would put on a show. These two teams could headline an NBA finals matchup. In this game, Davis was laser-focused, with Lebron out someone needed to carry the scoring load. He played 34 minutes, went 15-25, and added 37 points to go along with 18 rebounds. This play led the team to a 116-103 victory. After that performance thrust a three-game winning streak. He made a bigger impact on the game and on the offense than in recent weeks. Davis was able to finish strong instead of disappearing in the second half like in previous games.
Lakers vs Pistons (11/18/22)
Once again with James being out he didn’t blink and led his team to victory. Playing 34 minutes, going 10-16, adding 38 points, and collecting 16 rebounds. In reality, this was Davis’s second straight game with a double-double that led the Lakers to victory. The offense was productive playing through Davis scoring 128 points that night. The Lakers won that high-scoring affair 128-121. This is good to see Davis channel his championship run days and show that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
Lakers vs Spurs (11/20/22)
In a similar fashion to the previous two games, there was again no Lebron and no problem for Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers. Facing a western conference opponent the Lakers came to play this night. They won in blowout fashion 123-92 and Davis once again led the charge. Playing fewer minutes with 28, 12-19 shooting, 30 points with 18 rebounds. Earlier during the season, the criticism was that Davis would disappear in the second half. He had not been as productive during his first two quarters compared to his last two. LeBron James was vocal about the Lakers offense needing to be ran through Anthony. Lebron was on to something, when the offense is catered through Davis it is very productive.
Lakers vs Suns (11/22/22)
The streak continues in this game against the Phoenix Suns. However, they came up short in the win column. Having played 38 minutes, going 11-17, with 37 points and 21 rebounds Anthony Davis still provided a spark. He dominated scoring and rebounding and gave his team a chance against one of the NBA’s best teams. Davis has been putting on a show in this manner all without one of the greatest players ever. This stretch of four games has proven that Davis might be the Lakers best player and biggest asset for a potential trade.
Overview
Anthony Davis has been on a tear over his last four games. This weekend he and the Lakers will face the Spurs in a back to back Friday and Saturday nights. There has been no word on when Lebron will return to game action. So, therefore, it is ok to believe that Davis can keep up this streak. With no James, this Lakers team will need Anthony Davis’s scoring and production to stay afloat throughout this season.
