The Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon has been handed a suspension, as announced by Major League Baseball Monday. As well as served a fine for an undisclosed amount.

The discipline to the 33-year-old comes after an Opening Day incident in Oakland. Rendon got into an argument with an A’s fan, whom he said had called him a “b****.” He was holding the fan’s shirt through the guardrail during that spat, in which he called the fan “a motherf*****.” Rendon then attempted to swipe toward the guy, even though he didn’t make any contact.

Video of the incident had circulated on social media the following day. MLB and the Oakland Police Department both opened investigations. The OPD hasn’t provided any further update beyond initially noting they’ve created a case file and were “actively investigating” the matter. Both the Angels and Anthony Rendon declined to comment.

Rendon appealed the suspension and it has been dropped from five days to four days. The suspension will take place over the next four days, meaning he’ll be out for the series in Seattle as well as the opener in Toronto. Since he signed a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Angels in 2019, Rendon has struggled to stay on the field, as injuries have gotten in the way of his production. That contract came after his only All-Star season with the Washington Nationals, where he crushed 34 homers, 44 doubles and brought home 126 RBI with a .319 average.

The former all-star was also suspended last year after the fight between the Mariners and Angels.
