Around the AFC North, we will take a look at each team in this division. Each club has had its ups and downs this season. The Ravens and Bengals have had more success than the Browns and Steelers. However, in recent weeks the latter two have looked better. Those two teams are trying to find sustained success for the rest of the season. The Ravens and Bengals lead the AFC North. They are the front runners to win the division, but we can not dismiss the Browns or Steelers to making this close towards the end. Only one can win the division and be crowned king of the north.
Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson left last Sunday’s win against the Denver Broncos with a knee injury. It was then later announced that Jackson suffered a sprained PCL. That injury has made Jackson doubtful to play this Sunday against the Steelers. In reality, his timetable for a return is one to three weeks. In the interim backup quarterback, Tyler Huntley will start in place for Jackson. Jackson suffered an injury around the same time last season and they went 0-4 with him sidelined. However, the Ravens do lead the AFC North with a record of 8-4. It will be seen if they can continue to win while Jackson is out.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are coming off a huge win over the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. Cincinnati is currently 8-4 and in second place in the AFC North standings. This time a year ago is when the Bengals started to put it all together and gain traction for their super bowl run. Joe Burrow is currently looking like an MVP candidate in his third season as a pro. Above all, they are now riding a four-game winning streak. The Bengals will look to make it five in a row Sunday against the Browns.
Cleveland Browns
Deshaun Watson has finally made his Cleveland Browns debut, in what was a game where he looked rusty. This week’s matchup is against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns will look to help Watson adjust to this new offensive system and shake off the rust. Cleveland has won two games in a row and now is in third place in the AFC North. At 5-7, the Browns are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive for this year. As shown above, the Browns and Bengals will face off for round two of the battle of Ohio. The Browns will look to go 6-0 against the Bengals under Kevin Stefanski.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Kenny Pickett has been playing well the last few weeks he has really begun to grow in that Pittsburgh Steelers offense. The Steelers have won two games in a row and are now 5-7 on the season. With T.J. Watt‘s return, he has reenergized the Pittsburgh defense. Above all this Steelers team is looking to avoid the first-ever losing season under Mike Tomlin. Heading into a matchup this week against the Ravens they are looking to gain momentum in the AFC North. This matchup could turn into one of their classic battles Sunday.
Outlook
The final weeks of the season will go down to the wire in determining the winner of the AFC North division. There are multiple divisional matchups coming up these final five weeks of the regular season. It will be a tight race to the finish line. There is potentially terrific quarterback play on the horizon over the next month. The AFC North might have the best starting quarterbacks for a single division. This is just a preview of what this division can be over the five-plus years. The AFC North is one of the best if not the very best divisions in all of football.
