Atlanta Show No Mercy Wins

Atlanta show no mercy wins. (90-76)The Dreams are coming off an explosive win from last game action against the New York Liberty. Seattle Storm with their star players; Breonna Stewart, who is the co-captain of this year’s WNBA All-Star Game. Sue Bird who is playing her last game in the Gateway Arena this afternoon after announcing her retirement this season. Atlanta show no mercy wins. Seattle Storm also have their newest addition in Tina Charles who is the 4th in scoring in WNBA history with 6,902 career points. At the tip-off, Rhyne Howard comes out with a three right off the jump. Storm’s Breonna Stewart answers back with a three as well on the other end. Atlanta is in full stride with execution in this quarter with star guard Tiffany Hayes on the floor commanding every possession. Cheyenne Parker contributing to the offense as well with defensive energy to bring her team’s lead to 14-8; team shooting 7-8 and 83% from the field. This quarter, Hayes and Howard completely dominated giving the Dream a season high of 32 points in the quarter! They have kept the same momentum from their meeting with New York into this game remaining unstoppable on the boards. The Dream continued to build on their lead against the Storm by bringing it up to a 14 point deficit. Atlanta stayed aggressive on both ends of the court. Parker and Howard combined 23 points in the half. The team has 26 points in the paint versus Seattle’s 8. The halftime score 46-41.

The Dream continue the scoring driveling into the the 3rd with a bucket giving them a 6 point lead. Seattle is now 6-16 from the distance, not showing much productivity from the ark. Atlanta is able to capitalize by covering the inside game of Seattle forcing them to take shots from outside. Both teams appear to be a little winded from the action of the previous half. However, Tiffany Hayes is working both ends of the court causing her team to catch fire. Cheyenne Parker is also putting on a show in the quarter. She desires to become the scoring leader and go-to player for her team. The Dream lead is 58-49 with 3:37 in the 3rd. The 4th quarter begins and Atlanta is now on a 10-2 run with a dagger from the ark by Kristy Wallace. The team is now at an 18 point deficit leading 72-54. Aari McDonald gets called for a flagrant foul against Seattle’s Briann January with an elbow to the face. Seattle connects with the foul at the line. Asia Durr, meanwhile is on fire allowing the Dream shooting 50% from the three. Atlanta’s Coach Wright looks the eyes of her starters and says, “No Mercy!” in other words, she commands Atlanta to finish the domination on this afternoon over the Storm. They do so and capitalize on the winded Seattle Storm. Atlanta show no mercy wins (90-76). Atlanta Dream’s next game will be against the Washington Mystics Wednesday July 8.
