Many fans and reports alike have stated that the XFL could potentially be the NFL’s minor leagues. The first season with Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia as the owners has been a success. Already, a few players including Ben DiNucci have been contacted by NFL teams to try out. Some of these players have made a roster.

DiNucci is a former seventh-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys during the 2020 NFL Draft and he quickly became a fan favorite. He has one career start under his belt where he completed 21 out of 40 passes for 180 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. A season ago, he was drafted by the Seattle Sea Dragons and passed for 2,671 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. In fact, DiNucci led the XFL in passing yards and ranked second in touchdown passes this spring. He was one of only two quarterbacks with previous NFL experience.

Two former Seattle QBs

Now, the Denver Broncos have a couple of former Seattle quarterbacks on their depth chart heading into the 2023-24 season. One from the Sea Dragons and the other from the Seahawks, starter Russell Wilson. His first season in Denver, did not go how many would have expected. In order for DiNucci to make the roster though, he’ll most likely compete with Jarrett Stidham for the backup job.

Ben DiNucci likely faces long odds to make the active roster after the pre-season. He’s not the only player that the Broncos signed out of the XFL either, they added to their running back depth by adding Jacques Patrick.

Patrick ranked second in the XFL with 443 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 10 games with the San Antonio Brahmas.

As of now, the two former XFL players sit on the Broncos’ 90-man offseason roster.
