Each week, there is money to be won on college football betting lines. It is all about finding which games have those lines that are the most winnable, so here are five that you should look at.
Five Winning Week 4 College Football Betting Lines
Western Michigan (-4) vs San Jose State
Off the heels of a huge upset win on the road against Pittsburgh, the Western Michigan Broncos should be looked at as bigger favorites than four points. They host the San Jose Spartans who squeaked out a road win against Hawaii after losing on the road to USC.
Broncos quarterback Kaleb Eleby played extremely well last week with 337 yards and three touchdowns against the Panthers. The Western Michigan defense will have to slow down Nick Starkel and the Spartans’ passing attack. But after doing just enough against Pitt and Kenny Pickett, they should be able to cover.
Louisville (-1.5) @ Florida State
Maybe the most head-scratching spread of the week is Louisville only being a 1.5 point favorite over Florida State. Though they travel to Doak Campbell Stadium, the Cardinals have played pretty well this season. The Seminoles have had one of the worst starts in program history though.
Last season, Louisville won in this matchup, 48-16. It may not be as lopsided, but the Cardinals should still be expected to win after a crazy win over UCF. Florida State was handled easily by Wake Forest, so I don’t expect this week to be any different.
Quarterback Malik Cunningham has been one of the best players in the country through the first three weeks of the season, so expect him to give the struggling Seminoles defense a lot of trouble.
Florida (-19.5) vs Tennessee
Even though they are coming off a loss, the Florida Gators still impressed a lot of people with how they played against Alabama. Quarterback Emory Jones led the Gators’ offense against one of the best defenses in the country. Look for his confidence to rise and get his team in the end-zone a lot against a defense that gave up 41 points to Pittsburgh.
The real question will be if the Tennessee Volunteers will be able to put up enough points to keep this close. On the road in the Swamp will be a tough venue; ask the Crimson Tide’s offense that managed just 31 points. In two games, quarterback Hendon Hooker has passed for 387 yards and five touchdowns. He has also rushed for 113 yards and a score.
Michigan State (-5) vs Nebraska
One of the most up-and-down teams in the country has been the Nebraska Cornhuskers through four games. They travel to East Lansing to take on a hot Michigan State Spartans squad that handled their business in Miami last week.
Payton Thorne and Kenneth Walker III have been nothing short of awesome though three games for the Spartans. They will continue to put up points against the Cornhuskers after they had almost upset the Oklahoma Sooners.
This is a tough game because it is tough to know which Nebraska team will show up. The one that struggled against Illinois and Buffalo. Or the one that only lost by a score to the third-ranked team in the country. But I will trust the one that has won two games against power-five opponents.
Appalachian State (-7) vs Marshall
After two wins and a close loss on the road to Miami, the Appalachian State Mountaineers host the Marshall Thundering Herd. The Mountaineers opened their season with a 14-point win over Eastern Carolina, who Marshall just lost to
Marshall allowed 561 yards to ECU, but they also gained 647 yards with three turnovers. Expect the App State offense to find a lot of success. And their defense will be much better than the Pirates’ defense that the Thundering Herd faced last week.
