The seventh-ranked Baylor Bears traveled to the United Supermarkets Arena to take on the eleventh-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders in this Big 12, college basketball matchup. A tightly-contested first half saw Baylor pull away to take a 39-32 lead. Texas Tech’s defense came to play in the second half, limiting Baylor to just 10 points in the first 10 minutes. The lead grew as large as 13 after Texas Tech went on an 11-0 run around the eight-minute mark.
Trying to get back into the game, Baylor started to play a 1-3-1 zone. It initially worked, as Baylor was able to pull within 7 points with 5 minutes and 30 seconds left. After going back and forth, Baylor was able to put together a couple of three-pointers in a row, making it 76-71 with one minute left. Texas Tech was able to maintain the lead, and hold on to win 83-73.

Kevin Obanor had a game-high 23 points, shooting 8-13 from the field, and 4-7 from deep. He also added 13 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Bryson Williams finished with 17 points on 5-9 shooting and four rebounds. Terrence Shannon Jr. provided a spark off the bench, putting up 14 shots en route to scoring 14 points while piling on 5 assists and 2 rebounds.

Star-guard James Akinjo led the Bears’ offense, going for 18 points, shooting 50% from the field, and dishing out 7 assists. Fellow guards Adam Flagler and Matthew Mayer combined for 27 points, providing quality offense for Baylor. Additionally, they combined for 10-23 shooting, 6-13 from deep, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
