The Buffalo Bills are trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Per Adam Schefter, the Bills are trading Diggs, a 2024 6th-round pick, and a 2024 5th-round pick for a 2025 2nd-round pick from the Texans. This is one of the many moves the Bills have made to free up cap space, such as releasing All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer. Along with Poyer, the Bills also released center Mitch Morse, Deonte Harty, and Nyheim Hines.
What this Means for the Bills
Since the Buffalo Bills are trading Stefon Diggs, there is a serious hole at wide receiver. The Bills WR room consists of Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, and Mack Hollins. Shakir is the only WR on the Bills with actual production for the team. The tight ends, Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox should see an uptick in targets and yards after the Diggs trade since there are lots of targets up for grabs. This is a big hit to Josh Allen and it will be interesting to see how he plays without Diggs. The Bills have picks 28 and 60 but are without their 3rd-round pick that was traded to the Green Bay Packers for Rasul Douglas. Look for Buffalo to take a WR with at least one of those picks with a deep WR draft this year. Guys like Adonai Mitchell, Keon Coleman, or Xavier Worthy would be available for the Bills to take at #28. After this offseason, the Bills have lots of needs and not a lot of draft capital to address those needs. Finally, only getting a 2025 second for Diggs is not for a Pro Bowl WR is a disappointing haul.

What this Means for the Texans and Diggs
The Houston Texans have had a near-perfect rebuild over the past few years. Giving up a 2025 second, which is almost a third if they play well, is worth getting another weapon for C.J. Stroud. Diggs is coming off his 6th 1000-yard season in a row. It was Diggs’s lowest receiving yard season and TDs since being traded to Buffalo from the Minnesota Vikings. He joins a stacked WR room that includes Nico Collins and Tank Dell. From a fantasy football point of view, this has the potential for Stroud to have a HUGE year with those WRs. With a stacked WR room, there is also potential for a drop-off for all three of the great WRs but that is not for certain. Nico Collins was WR #6 on the year in fantasy, and Dell was WR #41 after playing only 11 games. There is a lot of returning production for the Texans’ WRs, and adding Diggs to the mix is outstanding for Stroud and the Texans. All in all, the Texans are going all in for Stroud and it only cost them a 2025 second for that Pro Bowl WR.
