The Miami Heat just wrapped up in the NBA Finals. So you might be questioning a move surrounding the Heat center. However, they may want to retool and get younger at the same time. Now, Adebayo is still fairly young, 25. He’s also only a few seasons into his NBA career. Though, that has not stopped the Portland Trail Blazers from showing interest in Bam Adebayo according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
The Blazers own the No. 3 pick, if they use that pick… Damian Lillard may request a trade. Many NBA front offices are hoping that if the Blazers end up drafting Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller will be saying Goodbye to the franchise that he has been loyal to. The reality though, is that even if the Blazers don’t make a big splash…Lillard may remain in Portland. The front office already plans to re-sign Jerami Grant, so the Blazers will be looking to bolster their roster around the pairing of Lillard and Grant for starters.
Portland is strongly valuing that No. 3 pick as they hope to trade it out and build around their seven-time All-Star. The Blazers are preparing what the team believes to be a compelling package for Miami to part with All-Defensive centerpiece Bam Adebayo. A player with the caliber of Adebayo brings a play style that Portland has not had in a while. A switchable, backline anchor that would be an instant improvement to a team that ranked 28 in defensive efficiency a season ago.
Though, Lillard and Adebayo are already familiar with each other as they played together Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and have developed a close friendship since. The Portland star has also developed a friendship with Draymond Green. With any sort of move for Bam Adebayo, the Blazers may be forced to part ways with both Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons if they really want to improve their roster.
