Over the history of Mixed Martial Arts, there have been many intriguing prospects. Few have garnered the attention of the public without being signed to a major promotion quite like Bo Nickal.

The former three-time Division 1 National Champion wrestler at Penn State Nickal has finished all of his three fights in the first round (3-0). His fight with Donovan Beard (7-3) Tuesday night was the second time that Nickal had fought in front of UFC president Dana White on the Contender Series.

Tuesday Night Bo Nickal…

Nickal entered the contest as a huge betting favorite. Some bookmakers such as Draft Kings had Nickal as high as a -2800 favorite. This is extremely uncommon for someone who has only had three professional fights. It only took watching the first 15 seconds to understand why the oddsmakers had so much faith in Bo Nickal.

Almost as soon as the fight began, he floored Donovan Beard with a beautiful left hand. That was the beginning of the end of his night. From there the fighters got into a scramble on the ground that resulted in Bo Nickal finishing the fight by submission (Triangle Choke) just 52 seconds into the first round.

It was truly an impressive performance that left many speechless including the UFC president himself Dana White.

How Good Could Bo Be?

Nickal is undoubtedly one of the highest profile prospects in many years for the UFC. You would have to go back to Olympic wrestlers Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo to find someone as credentialed in the American wrestling world as Nickal.

His competitiveness and confidence are also huge reasons why some think Nickal could be destined for greatness. Training at the American Top Team Nickal will receive top-of-the-line coaching where he can improve his striking skills. While competing daily in the practice room against some of the sport’s very best.

It will be very interesting to see how far Bo Nickal can go in the UFC. Can he compete with the top 15? Will he challenge for UFC Gold? Could he be middleweight king Israel Adesanya’s toughest test yet at 185 pounds?

Only time will tell but Nickal has Mixed Martial Arts fans across the globe intrigued to see just how far this bright prospect can go.
