Last offseason, the Seahawks cut Bobby Wagner. He signed with the Rams. Turn the clocks one year into the future, and the opposite happened. Wagner gets released by the Rams. His former teammates in Seattle wanted him to come back, and thats exactly what the 8-time pro bowler is doing… returning to Seattle.
Heading into this offseason both Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider knew they needed to improve the defense, especially the front seven. The Hawks ranked among the worst in the NFL a season ago in run defense. The first to report the news officially was Seahawks Safety Quandre Diggs:
Per multiple reports, the deal is reportedly worth $7 million.
In 10 previous years with Seattle dating from 2012 to 2022, Bobby Wagner amassed 1383 tackles, 23.5 sacks, 11 interceptions and nine fumble recoveries.
In his lone season in Los Angeles, Wagner did not skip a beat, recording 140 total tackles, a career-high six sacks, two interceptions and five passes defended while starting all 17 games. For his efforts, he was named second-team all-pro. Which, was the ninth time in his career that he had earned All-Pro honors.
Wagner, who turns 33 in June, was a second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2012. Now, the eight-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro is back after just one season away from the team.
TL//DR: Bobby Wagner returning to Seahawks on one-year deal.
More to come.
