The Miami Dolphins will be without Bradley Chubb for the rest of the season after the star pass rusher suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Mike McDaniel announced Monday.

Chubb was injured with under four minutes to play in the fourth quarter and was carted off to the locker room. The Dolphins feared that the knee injury was serious, which is what an MRI confirmed Monday.

McDaniel On Chubb’s Injury

McDaniel did receive questions surrounding the decision to keep his starters in a game that was all but over. The Dolphins trailed 49-19 when Chubb suffered the injury. McDaniel wishes he would not have kept Chubb in the game and could go back and change his decision.

“I mean, in hindsight, I would absolutely not have wanted him out there if I would’ve known that he was going to get hurt. … It doesn’t look very smart at all,” McDaniel said. “The players wanted to go back in and play and finish the right way heading into next week. And I have the ability to tell them no on everything in this situation. There’s plenty of decisions that I’ll cross-examine. … The intention is always purposeful. And I made the call that the guys that went out there, they wanted to be out there. “

“I would like a time machine, for sure.”

With the injury, Chubb joins fellow pass rusher Jaelan Phillips, who suffered a season-ending torn Achilles on Black Friday. Bradley Chubb has torn his ACL in both his knees now, as he suffered an ACL tear in his left knee in 2019 with the Denver Broncos.

Chubb will finish the 2023 season with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles.

The Dolphins will now be without a significant piece of the defense when they take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 18. The winner of the game will be the AFC East champion.
