High school basketball has never been more exciting, Bronny James and the McDonald’s All-American Jam Fest 2023 proved just that. The event showcased some of the country’s best high school basketball players, including James, who took second place in the dunk contest.
Duke Signee Sean Stewart stole the show and won the dunk contest with an impressive display of athleticism and creativity. Duke basketball seems to be in good hands as their other All-American recruit, Jared Mccain also impressed onlookers with his impressive performance in the Jam Fest’s three-point shooting competition. It will be exciting to see what these talented and promising high school players achieve once they begin their college basketball careers.
Still, all eyes were on James, as he competed in the same competition his father, NBA scoring leader Lebron James, had won back in 2003. Despite not winning the dunk contest, James showed off his impressive skills and proved that he is well on his way to carving his own path in the basketball world. His first dunk was a two-handed reverse off of a self-lob that scored a 65 out of 70. During the finals, he involved his younger brother Bryce Maximus, who’s 6-foot-5. He didn’t nail his first three tries at jumping over and double pumping, but on the fourth try, he went for a simple dunk without any fuss and jumped right over him. In the end, Duke’s Stewart would emerge victorious.
Twitter Reacts to Bronny’s Dunks
Twitter was abuzz with reactions to Bronny James’ performance in the McDonald’s All-American Jam Fest dunk contest.
The reactions on Twitter prove just how popular and iconic the James family is within the basketball community. It shows how social media platforms have become an important tool for players and fans to share their opinions on basketball events in real time. James wasn’t the only dunker to generate excitement, as G-League Ignite commit Matas Buzelis also showed off an impressive performance during the McDonald’s All-American Jam Fest. Buzelis was the only player to get a perfect score on a dunk throughout the entire night.
Overall, the McDonald’s All-American Jam Fest was an entertaining showcase of some of the brightest stars in high school basketball. The dunk contest revealed just how much basketball talent is coming through the ranks. Seeing what these young athletes will bring to the game is exciting.
