The Browns next three games will determine the fate of their season one way or another—matchups against the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These next three games by the start of week 10 are all winnable by the standards of the Browns. Above all these games are crucial for playoff hopes and to give Deshaun Watson the best possible situation to play in when he returns in three weeks. For this purpose, we will discuss each matchup and see how Cleveland favors.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are 6-3 heading into this game against the Browns. Recently the Dolphins have been riding a three-game winning streak, following an early season injury to starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Miami has responded well and played their best ball at this moment. However, some question the validity of these recent wins. The Browns present a set of challenges no other team they’ve faced had. Cleveland must slow down this great receiving core in Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. The Browns are set up to do just that, with the multiple defensive backs available for the Browns. Denzel Ward will be returning from injury this week and that will help a lot. Offensively the Browns must run the ball and allow that to open up the passing game.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills as of week ten are 6-2 so far into the season and looking to rebound from a stunning loss against the New York Jets. Josh Allen is facing a UCL injury in his elbow that at the moment doesn’t seem severe. However, the Bills are not sure if Allen will continue to play through the injury. If Josh Allen cannot go then that can be potentially devastating news for the Bills. However, if he is able to go against the Browns in two weeks then this is a situation of playing keep away. Control the clock and run the ball to keep Josh Allen and the offense off the field. The Bills have a great defense so the entire offense must continue to play together and fire on all cylinders. The Browns defensive strategy must be to allow the pass rush to get home and the defensive backs must be ready to limit big play opportunities.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay is currently 4-5 and leads their, division. The Buccaneers beat the Los Angeles Rams Sunday a come-from-behind victory. A win like the one Tampa had on Sunday could be what a struggling team needs. The Bucs so far into the season have not been what they expected. Super Bowl aspirations this team has been injury plagued all year. Especially on the defense which could be something the Browns can take advantage of. If the Browns can get an early lead in this game and then run the ball the Buccaneers would have a hard time recovering. In contrast, Tom Brady is still the starting quarterback and this offense can do whatever it wants.
Conclusion
The Cleveland Browns are now in a critical part of the season. All three games are now very manageable and it will take the Browns playing how they did against the Bengals. It will take a full team effort in order to pull off these next three games. Ideally winning the next two or three would suffice, however, with a potentially injured Josh Allen winning all three is a lot more conceivable. If the Browns can win the Miami game that would be a massive momentum swing in their favor. The Bills and Buccs are facing injuries that can swing in the Browns favor. The Browns can control their own destiny and it’s right in front of them. They must execute in order to put themselves and Deshaun Watson in a position to succeed.
