Browns vs Ravens: Preview

The Browns vs Ravens is a divisional matchup that could shake up to be a pretty good spectacle. A season ago on Sunday night football, these two teams played and it was a defensive matchup for the ages. Cleveland managed to intercept Lamar Jackson four times in that contest. However, the Browns’ offense struggled to score points off of those turnovers. Inevitably Cleveland lost the game 16-10. In the second matchup, the Browns managed to defeat the Ravens. However, in this upcoming game both teams are once again looking to rebound from losses. The Browns have lost the last three games and need a win to resurrect their season. We shall discuss how they can get win.

Browns Offense

For the Cleveland Browns on offense, the game plan should be very simple. Run the ball with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Ravens’ defense presents some opportunities to be ran on. More specifically outside zone runs may work extremely well against them. In addition, Amari Cooper may be smothered in coverage and it should give way to other pass catchers getting open. This should be a good game for David Njoku and DPJ to display what they bring to the table. The Baltimore Ravens are struggling just like the Browns are. There are opportunities to take advantage of this team’s struggles.

Browns Defense

Similarly, to the Browns’ defensive gameplans of the past, this should be the same gameplan. For instance, the Browns’ defense should be very disciplined facing a Lamar Jackson-led offense. For example, they need ti to stay in the gaps, do not over-pursue, and limit mental errors. Unlike last Sunday the effort level must be there for this game. The number one thing to focus on for this defense is still communication. In general, they need to limit the explosive plays the Ravens can conjure up. Allowing plays of ten to fifteen yards will be ok. In contrast to giving up thirty to forty-yard chunk plays. There are plays that can be made in the passing game against the Ravens. It is finally time for the Browns to force some turnovers.

Special Teams

For this unit, the bar is pretty low in terms of gameday expectations. Just don’t make game-altering mistakes. For Once play it safe in the return game, allowing for a touchback on kick return instead of bringing the ball out and gaining minimal yards. A touchback will at least allow the ball to be put on the twenty-five-yard line. Cade York must make all of his kicks. Lastly, do not allow big plays for the Ravens to capitalize on.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are facing similar struggles to the Browns. This Ravens defense has surrendered multiple fourth-quarter leads this season. The Ravens have had ten-point leads or more in all six games. However, they have surrendered those leads often. Coming into the season at 3-3 they have really on-trailed in games this season for a total of two minutes. Baltimore’s defenses aren’t that of old teams. They do not blitz as much and are not as good in the running game. Likewise, the offense has there struggles as well. Not being able to run the ball how they would like. In addition, to Lamar Jackson playing up and down during the season so far.

Browns vs Ravens: Conclusion

The Browns at 2-4 need a win against the 3-3 Ravens in Baltimore, If suddenly the Browns can play well enough to get a victory against this team fresh life will be blown into there season. Therefore, this team must stay focused and be fully prepared for this game. This group needs to play with effort and all pass catchers must step up. Jacoby Brissett must be himself and play within the system. If the Browns can do that then they have a great chance of snapping the three-game skid.
