Call Of Duty 2021 Championship

Call of duty League wrapped up their 2021 Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War season this past weekend with Call of Duty Championship. The best of the best got to compete for a prize pool of $2,500,000 with the winning team getting $1,200,000. Teams from all over the United States competed for the chance to be crowned the best team of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. The teams there were Atlanta Faze, Toronto Ultra, Dallas Empire, Minnesota ROKKR, New York Subliners, Florida Mutineers, Chicago Optic, and LA Thieves.

Winner’s Bracket

Call of Duty Champs started Thursday, August 19, 2021, with the first round of the winner’s bracket. The first match of the day was Optic against Subliners. The Subliners took the series 2 to 3. After that, the next match of the day was Empire against ROKKR where Empire swept ROKKR 3 to 0. With the two matches, the losing teams were dropped down to the loser’s bracket. The other two teams stayed in the winner’s bracket.

Day 2 of Champs was another two matches which started with Empire against Ultra and Empire won again 3 to 2. After that, the second match was Faze against Subliners and Faze won 3 to 0. The two losing teams again got knocked down to the losers bracket to play the winners of the first round of the winner’s bracket. Day 3 had the final match of the winner’s bracket, it was Faze against Empire. Faze dominated the match and won 3 to 0 to move on to the grand finals.

Loser’s Bracket

The first day of matches had the loser’s bracket as while. The first loser’s bracket match was ROKKR against the Thieves. It was the Thieves first and only match because they lost to ROKKR 3 to 2. The nest match in losers was Optic against Mutineers and Optic won 3 to 1 this time. The two winning teams move up into the next round and the next day of Champs.

The second day of the loser’s bracket started with Optic against Ultra. Optic came up short once again and lost to Ultra 3 to 1. After that, the next match was Subliners against ROKKR with it all on the line. ROKKR won that one 3 to 1. Day 3 had two matches again and the first one was Ultra against ROKKR and Ultra won 3 to 2. The next match was Empire against Ultra and Ultra won that match 3 to 2. With that win Ultra were in the grand finals.

Grand Finals

The last day of champs was the grand finals in which Faze versed Ultra in a best of 7 series. It was a short day because that was the only match of the day. Ultra came out swinging and won map one. However, Faze then turned it around and won the next 3 maps. It was back and forth after that until Faze won their last map they need and won the grand finals 5 to 3. It was Faze’s second championship in the past 3 years. Atlanta Faze was crowned the Grand Champions of the 2021 Call of Duty League.
