Atlanta Falcons’ lead receiver Calvin Ridley will not be with the team in London for the game against the Jets due to a personal reason. This was first reported by Adam Schefter on Twitter.
This is Ridley’s first missed game of the 2021 season.
In his first season as the lead receiver for the Falcons, Ridley has posted 27 receptions for 255 yards and one touchdown. Overall, Ridley has been an integral part of the struggling Falcons’ offense. With ex-teammate Julio Jones joining the Tennessee Titans in the offseason, Ridley was excited about the lead role.
The Falcons will also be without WR Russell Gage on their trip to London.
The Atlanta Falcons are set to leave for London later Thursday evening. The game is scheduled to kick off at 9:30 a.m ET at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The Falcons (1-3) look to improve against a Jets (1-3) team that won its first game against the Tennessee Titans in week 4. Atlanta has found little success on the defensive end of the field, allowing the most points in the NFL this season through four games.
Fantasy Outlook With Calvin Ridley Out
With both Calvin Riddley and Russell Gage out against the Jets, fantasy owners of Kyle Pitts, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Mike Davis should see an uptick in usage.
With this being the first game Ridley is missing in 2021, it will be hard to determine where Matt Ryan distributes his targets or if the game-plan against the Jets will change. However, expect the Falcons’ offense to struggle in Ridley’s absence.
Olamide Zaccheaus figures to be the starting WR for the Falcons with Ridley and Gage out. After Zaccheaus is Tajae Sharp and Christian Darby.
Kyle Pitts should be the main beneficiary of Ridley’s absence, in both fantasy and game scripts.
