Former WWE Superstar Carlito shocked the entire WWE Universe with a return at Backlash in Puerto Rico. The return was a well-kept secret with nothing leaked before the show. A secret that potentially was easier to keep under wraps with San Juan being the hometown of the former champion. Which meant, they didn’t have to fly him in.
Appearing during the Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest match to help even the odds when the rest of The Judgment Day got involved. The surprises didn’t stop though, as Savio Vega also went out to help the babyfaces and he enlisted the LWO to help him out.
There were reports that Carlito could make a return after appearing in the Royal Rumble in 2021, but nothing came to fruition. He received one more match on the following “WWE Raw” as he and Jeff Hardy defeated Jaxson Ryker and Elias. He had turned down multiple offers to work full-time for a National Promotion. Though, it now appears that he has now changed his mind.
“Yeah, I’m open to whatever, any good offer from anywhere, it doesn’t matter. Thing is, nobody calls me so I don’t sit by the phone either. If something comes up, great, if not I keep doing what I’m doing.”
In previous tenures with the company, he never won a World Heavyweight Championship. However, he won several mid-card titles including the Intercontinental and United States Championships, as well as the Tag Team Championships. Now, at 44 years old, he appears to be in the best shape of his life.
If something isn’t already in the works between WWE and the former superstar, there might be soon. Granted, it was in his hometown, but the ovation was enormous. He would also be a great person to have backstage to help younger talent.
