In what has got to be the craziest offseason coaching carousel we have ever witnessed, both in College and the NFL, another Power 5 School might lose their head coach now too. According to an article from Joeseph Zucker at Bleacher Report, UCLA’s Chip Kelly is seeing some interest from NFL teams about their OC positions.

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly could make a return to the NFL in a coordinator capacity this offseason, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. Jones reported Sunday the 60-year-old “has been mentioned as a possible offensive coordinator by multiple head-coaching candidates this cycle.” Some prospective suitors have begun the process of vetting him

This would be Kelly’s third stint in the league, after being fired as the Head Coach of the Eagles in 2016 and 49ers in 2017. These rumors are not a guarantee, however, continues Zucker, stating that the money may not add up.

Leaving for the NFL would also mean taking a lesser title and presumably less money — he’s earning nearly $6 million a year at UCLA.

Chip Kelly has also voiced some issues with how he sees College Football nowadays, and what it has turned into and what it is becoming. Maybe the dissatisfaction with the shape of NCAA Football could be a strong enough force to push him away from returning to UCLA. Other major shakeups in the NCAA Coaching world this offseason have included the retirement of Nick Saban, the movement of University of Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama, and the impending departure of Jim Harbaugh from Michigan to the NFL.

If he were to leave the Bruins for an NFL OC job, there could be a few teams interested. A few names who may have some interest could include the Seahawks, Bills, Eagles, Steelers, and Bears.

Where do you think Chip Kelly starts the 2024-25 season?
