Clippers are in Houston against the Rockets for the second straight game. Last game Clippers pulled off the 99-98 win over the Rockets. Ivica Zubac had 6 blocks including a stuffing of Christian Wood with 16 seconds left on the clock. Zubac played out of his mind in that win over the Rockets and of course Reggie Jackson put up 26 points as well. Rockets in the second quarter held a 13 point lead but the Clippers cut it down 4 points by the half. Overall was a decent win and very entertaining game but Clippers are better than a one point win over the Rockets.
Rockets Season
The Houston Rockets are sitting at 15-45 currently. The word around the league is that Houston is in a rebuilding mode. They have a bright young star who is getting adjusted to the league in Jalen Green. Rockets have a savvy veteran in Dennis Schroder but the talent kind of stops there. Head coach Stephan Silas is a offensive mind that was the brains behind theDallas Mavericks 2016 campaign, so they are in good hands. Just some more maturing time with the young star Jalen Green and finding those right pieces to put around him and Rockets will be in the playoffs shortly. As of right now though, Rockets are on pace to lose 60 games this year.
Clippers Key’s to Victory
Last game defense won the Clippers the game. Ivica Zubac and Robert Covington had themselves great efforts on the court. What was missing was the offensive shooting in the last game against the Rockets. Clippers shot 44.2% in field goals and 32.4% from behind the arc. Both those numbers are just a tick down from their season averages. Sunday’s game saw Luke Kennard go 1-7 at the three pointer line and that will have to improve in order to win more comfortably. The Rockets are a young team that likes to score points early but have often lack effort on the back end of games ending up in their demise. Clippers need to keep pace with the Rockets early, not let them get an unsurmountable lead. Tyronn Lue will have to keep the Clippers energy level high when the Rockets have their runs. If the game is close in the fourth quarter the Clippers will close it out with their experience.
Betting Nuggets
Clippers are favored by 7 points as I write this, and last game they were favored by the 6.5 and honestly this number is to big. Clippers have a habit of playing to their competitions level recently. Los Angles in their last 13 games against opponents under .400 wining percentage are 4-9 against the spread. However, in their last six games they are 5-1 against the spread. The only one the didn’t cover was their last game against these Rockets. The over/under is set at 229.5 which I think is just way to high. Clippers games have gone under in their last 4 games on the road. I know the Rockets love to score but getting 230 points is a bit of a stretch. I couldn’t find Luke Kennard’s over three pointers made prop but give that a look. Remember to gamble responsibly.
