The Dallas Cowboys schedule was just released. We’re going to take an early look at some of their notable matchups in the 2022 season.
Week 1: Dallas Cowboys vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sep. 11th @8:20pm EST on NBC
In the first of at least five primetime games this season, the Cowboys first game is a rematch of last year’s opening game. The 2021 season opener for the Cowboys ended in disappointment. Dak Prescott had a shocking and impressive performance himself coming off a massive injury. Dak threw for 403 yards and 3 touchdowns and had the Cowboys up late. Had they not faced the GOAT Tom Brady, who threw for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns, the Cowboys might have had it in the bag. Dallas will look to close the deal on their opening night.
Week 2: Dallas Cowboys vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Sep. 18th @4:25pm EST on CBS
Ouch. Right after an outing against the Super Bowl hopeful ‘Tom’pa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas has last seasons AFC Champions, the Cincinnati Bengals, marching into Jerry World. The schedule makers did the Cowboys no favors to start the season. The Bengals sured up their shaky offensive line this offseason. With Randy Gregory’s heart breaking departure, it will be interesting to see if the Cowboys have enough juice on their defensive line to put pressure on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and his revamped offensive line.
Week 5: Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Rams, Oct. 9th @4:25 EST on FOX
Like I said, no favors were given to the Cowboys to start the season. Three teams that have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations and potential and two division opponents in the first five weeks of the season. This will arguably be Dallas’s toughest game of this stretch; the defending Super Bowl Champions Los Angeles Rams. After playing two tough division games against New York and Washington, they have to travel to L.A. and play in front of that raucous Rams crowd. How Dallas finishes off this difficult five game stretch could really impact the rest of their season.
Week 18: Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders, Jan. 7/8 TBD
This game will determine seeding within the division and possibly within the NFC conference. No matter what Washington’s record will be at the end of the season, it’s usually a tougher game than what’s expected. Last season, the Cowboys handled the former Football Team handily in both matchups (although they almost gave it away in their first go ’round). The Commanders have a new, but familiar quarterback in Carson Wentz. Wentz has a .500 record against the Cowboys. Nothing like a game against your arch rivals with playoff implications on the line (hopefully) to end the regular season.
