A day that started with a crashed car ended in Victory Lane for Daniel Suárez and Trackhouse Racing. The number 99 Chevy sustained damage in a crash on lap two of the Ambetter Health 400 in Atlanta. But, at the end of the race, Suárez managed to beat two former Monster Energy Cup Series champions to the finish line in the third closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history.
The yellow flag flew early and often at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Ten cautions slowed the race pace as the usually high speed track. The final caution set up a restart with five laps to go. Defending series champion Ryan Blaney grabbed the lead and led the first four of those five laps. However, Suárez and Kyle Busch both got a push to set up a three wide race to the finish. Suárez beat Blaney to the line by .003 seconds and Busch by .007 seconds. It’s only the second win of Daniel Suárez’s career. He previously won at the Sonoma road course in 2022.
The race saw a record number of lead changes. Fourteen drivers traded the lead 48 times including Suárez’s last corner pass for the win. Todd Gilliland led 58 laps on the day, the most of all drivers. It was also the most laps led ever in a race by a Front Row Motorsports driver.
