Danielle Hunter Holding out amid Trade Rumors

Danielle Hunter Trade Holding Out

The Minnesota Vikings made the decision to let a lot of veterans go this offseason. Specifically on the defensive side of the ball, the moves made show they want to get younger. Gone are the fan favorites of receiver Adam Thielen and linebacker Eric Kendricks. Edge Za’Darius Smith and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson both have new homes in Cleveland. Their departures already left big holes to fill on the defensive line, but a Danielle Hunter trade a would mean a complete overhaul.

Hunter is reportedly not attending minicamp amid these trade rumors and it’s unclear if both sides are on the same page. At any rate, it is mandatory camp, so we’ll find out when the Vikings issue fines to Hunter or not. With all of the veterans let go by the Vikings, the rumors probably aren’t much of a surprise to him. The Vikings were also well aware of Hunter’s displeasure of his contract situation. Consequently, rumblings around the league suggest the Vikings received serious inquiries about the edge rusher.

The Vikings are set to pay Hunter $5.5 million in 2023 after moving much of his salary up in recent years. But with Hunter being in his prime and in the final year of his contract, it’s clear he wants a big pay day. And there are going to be teams interested if the Minnesota Vikings aren’t willing to fork over the money. The question is quickly becoming who is willing to trade for Danielle Hunter and when will it happen?
