Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox Game 5 status has been listed as doubtful after suffering a fractured index finger to his left shooting hand, per Shams Charania.

Fox joins a long list of NBA stars who’ve missed time due to injury: Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Lenard and Ja Morant.

It is believed that Fox suffered the injury during the fourth quarter in Game 4 and played through it to finish the game with 38 points and five assists. Fox has led the Kings in the first round in points per game, assists per game, steals per game and made three-pointers. There is hope that he’ll try to play Game 5, but he would need to play with a protective covering on the finger.

Without De’Aaron Fox in Game 5, the Kings would insert Malik Monk or Davion Mitchell into the starting lineup. Still, Fox’s absence will be too large against a Golden State Warriors team looking to take advantage of the situation. With the series at 2-2, Game 5 will be pivotal as it’ll be in Sacramento as both teams have protected home court in the series.

This injury is also detrimental to the fan experience, as the Kings-Warriors series has been considered the best first-round series, with each game being high-scoring and high drama. From Game 1 and Game 4 having potential game-winning buzzer beaters to Draymond Green being ejected in Game 2, this series has had several storylines with more to come as the series turns to a best of three.
