Deion Sanders has three sons who are making a massive impact on the Colorado football program. One son is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Colorado buffaloes. The next son is who will be playing defensive back as his father played. Both will make an impact on the field playing. However, it is his eldest son Deion Sanders Jr who might be making the biggest impact off the field for the Colorado football team.
Deion Sanders Jr Off The Field Impact
Sanders Jr who use to play football as well is now helping his father and brothers in a new way. He is using a video camera and various social media outlets to make an impact. Sanders Jr is building an audience for the Colorado football program which has not been done before. What he is doing is creating behind-the-scenes access for players. coaches, and the celebrity life of his dad. “We try to flood the market,” Sanders Sr. said about the strategy on one of his son’s videos from January. The content has worked and Sanders Sr has a big personality that’s drastically increased the audience for Colorado’s football program.
Content Increase
Above all, the content created has vastly increased the eyes around this new look Colorado football team. For instance, subscriptions to Sanders Jr’s Youtube channel “Well Off Media” have skyrocketed. That Youtube channel is up 250,000 viewers from 80,000 since late November. However, that seems to be directly linked to when Sanders Sr. was hired on as head coach. For example, one video of their very first team meeting in Colorado in December has been viewed 4.2 million times. The Colorado football programs’ individual and team social media accounts have increased by 500%. Likewise, all are linked to Sanders Sr being hired.
Why Does This Matter?
More eyeballs lead to more interest from fans, businesses, and recruits. Colorado finished 1-11 last year, which was its 15th losing season in 17 years. Since Sanders Sr’s arrival, the number of businesses and other registrants wanting to give out NIL deals has increased by 258%. Colorado has landed a top 25 class of newcomers. Next year’s class is ranked 12th in the nation. Therefore it is safe to say that most of the increased buzz is directly related to the access Sanders Jr has given. Only time will tell how big of an impact the increased behind-the-scenes access really attracts higher recruits, businesses, and NIL deal potential. Sanders Jr is really changing the game for college recruiting and it may just be a matter of time until it catches on.
Conclusion
In this new era of college football, it is great to see things changing for the better. Allowing recruits and even fans to see what it takes to be a college athlete will leave a massive imprint in people’s minds. What Sanders Jr is doing will change the college recruiting process for years to come. Above all, this will be a positive for years to come and will give all schools an opportunity to compete in an ever-growing market.
