Dillon Brooks lands a contract with Houston via sign-and-trade

Just about everyone hated Brooks this last season. The 6-foot-6-inch G/F got under the skin of many NBA players and fans. He is heading into the 2023 NBA Offseason as one of the most polarizing free agents of the summer. Many eyes have been focused on Dillon Brooks, but it appears he’s now headed to Houston.

Brooks has spent the first six seasons of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies. During that span, he has a career average of 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals. Amongst all the chaos, the 27-year-old was named to the NBA All-Defensive team during the 2022-23 season.

Brooks was chosen with a second-round pick by Houston in 2017, though that pick was traded to Memphis. Leading up to the offseason, Brooks has been reported to meet with Houston and Portland amongst others. The Rockets were the favorite to sign Brooks. He brings a competitive edge to whatever rotation he’s part of due to his grit to work hard. He might not be the most complete player offensively or defensively, but he tries hard on the court.

At the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, the Grizzlies had let Brooks know that they wouldn’t be bringing him back. Though, one thing that Brooks brought while in Memphis was the ability to play a consistent amount of minutes. Now, Dillon Brooks finds himself headed to the Houston Rockets.
