Doctors advise Randy Orton not to Return to Ring

The Viper has already had a legendary career and will undoubtedly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. In fact, the last time we saw Randy Orton at a televised WWE event was one year ago. His last match came was the Tag Team Title Unification Match where RK-Bro lost to The Usos on an episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

After that match, The Bloodline attacked Orton in order for WWE to write him off of television. In November, the 14-time World Champion had a fusion back surgery that would keep him out of action for an extended period of time.

While speaking with Sportskeeda, ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton Jr. commented on his son’s progress, noting that Randy’s doctors have told him not to return to the ring. He said,

“He’s training, so we’ll see what happens; I don’t know. If he feels like he’s ready to go back, I think he might, but again he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he needs to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”

Randy Orton may not be done yet though. The man who was once proclaimed as “The Legend Killer” still has at least one more World Title run in him. His determination to return to the ring reflects the mindset that many wrestlers who find it difficult to call it quits before they feel their time is up.

“Wrestling, you know when you get in there and you got some people going crazy, you just love it. So it’s hard to leave,” Randy’s father said.

Over the course of his career, Randy Orton has become a favorite for many wrestling fans. He’s put together a legendary singles career and has been part of some amazing tag teams: Evolution, Rated-RKO, The Wyatt Family and RK-Bro. If he were to hang up the boots now, there’s no doubt that he’d be in the WWE Hall of Fame, but as a Viper he may not be ready to do that just yet.

Potential Feuds if Orton returns

Roman Reigns

The title reign for The Tribal Chief is coming up on 1,000 days and though it seems like the WWE is set on him breaking the record, maybe they waiting to find out if the man they want to end that reign will return or not. Matt Riddle recently continued his feud with The Bloodline by helping Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Why would you not want “The Legend Killer” to break a legendary streak?

Edge

Much like we’ve seen in the past between lifelong best friends and brothers even. The WWE could opt for a career vs. career match between Edge and Randy Orton.

Nonetheless, the future Hall of Famer has a big decision to make. He’ll probably have a position with the company backstage if he wants it, if he does retire.
