After yesterday’s 6-4 win against the Colorado Rockies, the Dodgers are the first National League team since 1909 to reach 110 wins. During that year, the Pirates won 110 games. The Dodgers passed both the 1986 Mets and the 1975 Reds when they ended with 108 wins. The only National League team record they are trailing is the Cubs 1906 116-36 run.
What Was the Dodgers Franchise Record?
They set a new franchise record in 2019 with 106 wins in a season. They tied the record last year in 2021 by winning 106 games. The Dodgers have three games left in the regular season which are all at home against the Colorado Rockies. If they win all the remaining games they will set a franchise record of 113 wins but will still trail the 1906 Cubs by three games.
Dodgers 2022 Team
The Dodgers have the highest payroll in all of baseball. After Corey Seager signed with the Rangers it was unknown how the Dodgers would do without him. As he was one of their star players for years. However, they had six of their players represent them in the 2022 All-Star game. Clayton Kershaw was the National League starting pitcher. Mookie Betts and Trea Turner were voted in by fans as the starting center fielder and shortstop. Also, Tony Gonsolin, Tyler Anderson, and Freddie Freeman were the other players at the all-star game. Freddie Freeman was added to the roster after winning the World Series last year. Freeman signed a six-year contract and leads the team in with an average of .327, 97 RBIs, .409 OBP, and 194 hits. The Dodgers have one of the best starting rotations in baseball. Julio Urias leads the team with 17 wins, 162 strikeouts and a 2.17 ERA. They were the first team that clinched a spot in the postseason this year.
How Does the Team Look Going Into the Postseason?
The Dodgers are heading into the playoffs with the best record. The closest team to them is the Houston Astros with 103 wins. However, they have three starting pitchers on the IL. These players are Dustin May, Gonsolin and Walker Buehler. All three have been a huge part of this Dodgers pitching for years. The Dodgers have been able to put a lot of runs against many teams which means if their pitchers are out they will still have a good playoff run. At the trade deadline, they picked up Joey Gallo from the Yankees. Although this has been one of Gallo’s worst MLB seasons as a batter he has made some great plays in the Dodgers outfield which could help during the postseason. The World Series match-up between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros would be a fun series to watch. The last time these teams played in the World Series was in 2017 which many fans still talk about to this day. The Dodgers have already made franchise history and they are on their way to a World Series win.
