The NBA Draft is one of the toughest events to evaluate and predicting the future of these 19–24 year old kids is undoubtedly difficult. But all it takes is one pick to hit and a franchise`s fortunes can be changed. I Believe this is a 3 player draft with a plethora of other players with tons of potential.
2022 NBA Draft 1st Overall Pick Contenders
1-Jabari Smith JR 2003 fr F Auburn
Any one of these top 3 guys can go 1st overall in the NBA draft. They all have hall of fame potential to go along with a safe floor. I have Jabari Smith JR slightly ahead of Chet Holmgren due to Jabari Smith JR being a safer bet due to his size and skill set. Smith Jr is a year younger than Holmgren, he`s a better 3pt shooter, and I think he can come right in as an all star level 3 and D wing.
2-Chet Holmgren 2002 fr F/C Gonzaga
I have Chet Holmgren as a close 2nd since he possesses the most upside in the NBA Draft. Holmgren is over 7ft tall with a 7ft 6in wingspan. I think Holmgren will be a solid 3pt shooter and shot blocker in the NBA. Unfortunately, due to his low weight he will come with some risk. It’s not a guarantee he will be able to put on the muscle and he will have a tough time finding a position at PF or C.
3-Paolo Banchero 2002 fr F Duke
Paolo Banchero is the most pro ready prospect. He can shoot well at times, is a solid rebounder, and a consistent playmaker. He has NBA ready size at 6ft 10in and 250lbs. Banchero will need to improve his perimeter defense and become a more consistent shooter. I have him 3rd only beco he has the lowest celling of the top 3 prospects.
