Are the Eagles Interested in Derrick Henry?

The Philadelphia Eagles have a few holes in their lineup to fill out following their Super Bowl run and losing some veterans in free agency. With it now being draft week, rumors of trades are in full swing and neither the Eagles nor Derrick Henry have been an exception to that. In fact, per Akbar Gbajabiamila of CBS, a Henry to Philadelphia trade is on the horizon.

With Miles Sanders moving on to the Carolina Panthers in the offseason, Philly has a need for a new RB1. They did sign Rashaad Penny who is a great running back when he’s on the field but that’s the problem. He’s only played in 18 games over the past three seasons. There were rumors that the Eagles were looking strongly at Bijan Robinson with their 10th pick in the upcoming draft. But this latest rumor suggests that maybe they have someone else in mind and would rather trade for a more proven half back. There is already one guy on the Eagles who’s approved of the deal. A.J. Brown, former Tennessee Titan and teammate of Henry, is on board with the idea.

However, a couple of insiders around the league have already dumped cold water on the idea altogether. Per Titans insider Paul Kuharsky, the two teams have had “zero conversations” about any trade. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk has insinuated a similar stance. Per Florio, the Titans were shopping Henry in March, but nothing came of it because of the $10.5 million Henry is due this year. That, and the fact Henry is looking for a new contract. With the conflicting reports, it’s difficult to confirm much of anything between the Eagles and Derrick Henry but we will all know by pick 10 of the 2023 NFL Draft.
