Real Madrid take on FC Barcelona in their first official pre-season game of the 2022/23 campaign. It’s poised to be a wonderful game of football as the two gargantuan clubs have massive fan bases over in the United States. El Clasico is never an exhibition match. Both sets of players will be eager to put on a show and come out victorious on the night.
Barca have played two pre-season friendlies already against Olot and Inter Miami. The match against Olot ended in a 1-1 draw while they hammered Inter Miami 6-0. Kessie, Raphinha and Ansu Fati have been the standout performers for Barca so far in their pre-season tour.

Los Blancos are yet to complete a competitive pre-season match. So far, they’ve only taken part in intense fitness, strength, conditioning and ball mastery training. Amongst many scrimmages between the first team, a 60 minute, in-house match was played between a mixture of first team and academy players.
On the night, Barcelona will most likely look the fitter of the two teams as they’ve played more games than Real Madrid and their players should be in better shape than their opponents. It’ll be interesting to see the tactical battle between the two teams.
Though Ferran Torres missed the game against Inter Miami on Tuesday, he will be declared fit to play before the Clasico. Their new talisman Lewandowski should also be fit enough to play. Real Madrid’s only absentee will be Benzema as he only joined training on Wednesday.
Ultimately, it’s a pre-season friendly, and the main goal is to build fitness, momentum and team chemistry.
