MOTM

Vini Jr- 8.5/10 He was a constant threat for Espanyol’s right-back Oscar Gil and took his goal well. He also put in a shift defensively by tracking the runners and cutting out danger. He’ll be a crucial part in everything good Real Madrid does this season.

Starting XI

Courtois- 7/10 Though his distribution wasn’t good, he still made multiple saves which kept us in the game.

Lucas Vázquez- 6/10 Decent performance from LV. He did well against Puato and finished the game with 95% passing accuracy.

Militao- 6.5/10 Another solid performance from the Brazilian but a lapse in concentration led to Joselu scoring. He was unfortunate, but he has to cut these small errors out of his game.

Rüdiger- 8/10 His first competitive start for Real Madrid and he didn’t fail to impress. Had an enthralling battle against the dangerous Joselu, but he held his own.

Alaba- 7/10 Was an outlet on the overlap which massively helped Vini. Made some solid recovery tackles and runs as well.

Tchouaméni- 8/10 It’s safe to say Tchouameni has arrived. Quality performance in and out of possession once again.

Modrić- 6.5/10 He wasn’t as influential as he usually is but was still key in our build up and ball progression in the first half.

Kroos- 7/10 Kroos-control. He came straight back into the starting XI and didn’t look out of place. Dictated the tempo of the game and helped Tchouameni out defensively.

Benzema- 7.5/10 Two much needed goals for the Frenchman. He was still far from his best but his confidence and form can only go up from here.

Fede- 7/10 He was much more involved in the attack today which made us a little more unpredictable. Made some crucial interceptions and linked up well with Tchouameni for Vini’s goal.
