Some of the writers came together here at Fantom Sports Industries and created a Fantasy Football league; of course we did! This is week 1 of war between a group of devoted gladiators striving for the championship! Loser has to buy whatever the champion wants from the Fantom Sports Merchandise Shop.
Fantom Sports Fantasy Football League Rules:
This is a 10 team league, consisting of a 1 quarterback, 2 running back, 2 receivers, 1 tight end, 2 flex positions, 1 kicker, and 1 defense to cap it off.
Now let’s break down week 1 matchups!
Fantom Sports Fantasy Football: Week 1:
“Mixon It Up” vs. “Fantasy Hurts My Thielens”
“Mixon It Up” has a projected 42% chance to win with 137.28 projected points. He has a deadly lineup powered by running backs, a superstar receiver, and one of the quote unquote best quarterbacks in the AFC.
This lineup features Joe Mixon, of course, Devante Adams, Kyle Pitts, with Justin Herbert to run the show. Adding running backs Josh Jacobs and rookie Breece Hall, He will look to score big in the running game. His passing attack is solidified by DJ Moore and Rashod Batemen. Add Tampa Bay’s defense who has been above average over the last two years and this team is complete top to bottom.
“Fantasy Hurts My Thielens” has a projected 58% chance to win with 152.14 projected points. This lineup has superstar power top to bottom. Although he chose to go with young players, most of them have established themselves as stars.
Yes, you guessed it from the name, Jalen Hurts and Adam Thielen are on this roster. Complimented by a slew of top option players in Mike Thomas, Steffan Diggs, Saquan Barkely, Aaron Jones, and James Conner. Yikes! Pat Freiermuth will be at tight end to stabilize this offenses attack. The defense will be provided by the Los Angeles Chargers.
“Akimbo Nines” vs “Hurts So Good”
“Akimbo Nines” has a projected 38% chance to win with 137.79 projected points. If this lineup has one thing, that thing is speed! Every position seems to have one of the fastest players to play it in today’s NFL. He has chosen some inconsistent players in past, betting on them to right the ship this season.
Elijah Mitchell, Nick Chubb, Alvin Kamara, and Christian McCaffrey will be carrying the ball for this offense. Speed! AJ Brown and the up and down Diontae Johnson will be his receivers in week 1. Under center is maybe the fastest and quarterback in the NFL, Kyler Murray. Dawson Knox will be at tight end, giving him at least one player that does not run a 4.3. Green Bay will supply the defense.
“Hurts So Good” has a projected 62% chance to win with a projected 161.52 points. Not sure how long this lineup will stay together, “Hurts So Good” put his entire team on the trade block prior to week 1. This guy lives life on the edge!
For week 1, Cooper Kupp, Hollywood Brown, and Jerry Jeudy are starting at WR giving him three of the best long ball receivers in the game. D’Andre Swift, Leonard Fournette, and Ezekiel Elliot will bruise their way to first downs all season. Daulton Shultz at tight end is neither exciting or disappointing. Then you got ol’ man Tom Brady taking snaps, probably from shot gun in week 1. With the Denver Broncos defense, this team is looking like the team to beat, so far.
“Team Shanedavis” vs “BYE WEEK”
“Team Shanedavis” has a projected 46% chance to win with 135.42 projected points. This team is full of top notch receivers, with arguably the best tight end on the market as an anchor. Surrounding by top 10 running backs, a top 5 defense. The only weak point is a young un-proven quarterback.
This receiving core is elite, Mike Williams, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Alan Robinson, and Tee Higgins are all 2nd options on their team. However every single one of them gets the ball in volume, as they usually have a one-on-one matchup they can take advantage of. Add Travis Kelce and this might be the best passing team in this league. Austin Ekeler and Rashaad Penny have become two premier players in the back field. Young Tua Tagovailoa will either prove himself this season or possibly be booted out of Miami. The Indianapolis Colts will hunker down on the defensive side of the ball.
“BYE WEEK” has a projected 54% chance to win with 145.22 projected points. This is the closest match-up, projected points wise this week in Fantom Sports Fantasy league. This team is built on defense and running the football. Top-ranked running backs and a veteran quarterback known for winning will start week 1 for “BYE WEEK”.
Jonathon Taylor, the projected best running back in the NFL will be accompanied by Travis Etienne and AJ Dillon week 1. Brandin Cooks, Courtland Sutton, and Michael Pittman give this team a solid receiving core to balance out the run game. Tight end stand-out Mark Andrews will produce over the middle. One of the most winning-est quarterbacks we have seen over the last decade is Russell Wilson who does nothing but “cook” defenses will run the helm. He will start San Francisco 49ers terrifying defense week 1.
“Team 7marqalen” vs “Dan Snyder’s Legal Team”
“Team 7marqalen” has a projected 40% chance to win with 125.29 projected points. This team has beautiful balance from top to bottom. A nice mix of young and veteran players with different styles. This team will look to gain points in many different ways.
David Montgomery, Cam Akers, and Dalvin Cook will provide this team a steady diet of power running in week 1. On the outside, CeeDee Lamb, Tyler Lockett, and Amari Cooper will be their teams number 1 option this year through the air. Add stable tight end Mike Gesicki and super star Patrick Mahomes and this passing attack will give teams nightmares. The reigning Super Bowl Champions Los Angeles Rams will provide the defense.
“Dan Snyder’s Legal Team” has a projected 60% chance to win with 147.79 projected points. This team has top players at every position who possess the attention of the opposition on every play. They will attack on the ground as well as in the air.
Terry McLaurin, dancing Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster, Mike Evans, and Ja’marr Chase might be the scariest receiving core I have ever said out loud. Add tight end David Njoku and running backs Antonio Gibson and Najee Harris; and it is impossible to expect this team to go down without a fight. Dual threat Lamar Jackson on a contract year will try and prove his worth every Sunday. Having Baltimore Ravens defense does not hurt either, defense is in Baltimore’s DNA.
“The Red Beard” vs “PR Squad”
“The Red Beard” has a projected 36% chance to win with 128.73 projected points. It appears this team is trying to take advantage of match-ups more than throw out his best players in week 1. This approach could be deadly for his opponent, yet projections disagree.
This team has a strong receiving core of Justin Jefferson, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, and Hunter Renfrow. All 4 receivers have been the safety blanket for their quarterbacks coming into this season. Running backs Javonte Williams and Rhamondre Stevenson both seem to be match-up picks for week 1. First year tight end Taysom Hill is given the chance to start. Round out this team with Jameis Winston, who lead the league in passing yards in 2019; as well as interceptions. The New Orleans Saints his defense of choice.
“PR Squad” has a 64% chance to win with 155.30 projected points. This team is stacked, with an absolute gun slinger under center and a deadly set of weapons around him. Top defense and running backs round out this lineup.
Tyreek Hill, Keenan Allen, Darnell Mooney, and Tyler Boyd give this team an aerial assault that leaves defenders shaking in their cleats. Powerhouse Derrick Henry and Clyde Edwards-Helaire give this team maybe the best running back tandem this season. Having a top 3 tight end in Darren Waller also does not hurt this teams chances of victory. With all of those weapons, MVP front-runner coming into the season in Josh Allen will take charge of this team. A sturdy hard to score on Tennessee Titans defense will be lock and loaded week 1.
Friendly Competition
All 10 of these team managers are passionate about two things; sports and winning. This season long quest to the top of the mountain will challenge even the most talented rosters. Fighting through injuries, match-up issues, and sometimes just flat out slumps. These managers will do whatever they have to do in the trade and free agent market to bring home the coveted title of “Fantom Sports Fantasy Football Champion”.
