After just over a quarter of a season gone by a lot has happened and these are Five NFL Overreactions:
5). Jerry Jones is so happy with Cooper Rush that he will trade Dak Prescott before the Deadline!
Cooper Rush has filled in for the oft-injured Prescott and has been steady. Undefeated as a starter for his career Cooper Rush has kept the Cowboy’s season alive and exceeded expectations. Cooper Rush is not as skilled as Dak forcing offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to be much more conservative and run the ball more. The results have been so fantastic for Dallas that Jerry Jones will decide to trade Dak Prescott to a team that needs a quarterback like New Orleans, Miami, or Carolina.
4). Mike Tomlin is 1-4 and will get Fired!
Last week I had Tomlin as untouchable was untouchable in week four coaches’ hot seat but a lot can change quickly. While Tomlin has never had a losing season, he has struggled in the playoffs since his Super Bowl Victory in 2008. Now at 1-4, it’s clear Tomlin has struggled to replace Big Ben, the steelers have great wide receivers like Dionte Johnson and George Pickens, and stud running back Najee Harris. These offensive weapons have exacerbated how poor the quarterback play has been and all that falls at the feet of Tomlin. His first losing season will lead to his firing.
3). Bills vs Eagles Super Bowl
The Bills even without an undefeated season have looked very dominant at times. Losing a close game to Miami stings. As well as with Tua now out for a potentially extended period. There is an opportunity to quickly lock up a division where everyone else has major quarterback instability with injuries also in New York and New England. Thumping the Rams and the Steelers and coming back against the Ravens has established how scary this team will be this postseason. The Eagles have been the best NFC team so far and are the NFL’s last unbeaten. Strong performances on both sides of the ball have carried a team a balanced Veterans heavy squad. With one victory in Glendale already this past Sunday the Eagles are looking to make it two, beating the Bills in the Super Bowl.
2). Panthers don’t win another game this season!
Matt Rhule has been fired by the Panthers. Sam Darold is out for a few more weeks with a high ankle sprain. Rookie quarterback Matt Coral is out for the season with a broken foot. Also Baker Mayfield has lost the locker room if he ever had it. The panthers are clearly a mess and without a clear path to move forward, they will continue to struggle this season. Mayfield will get hurt, but not enough to not play through it and lead them to a 1-16 record.
1). Bailey Zappe is the next Tom Brady!
With the first win of his career over the lions this weekend Bailey Zappe has taken the next step. He is now on a destined path to be the next Tom Brady. He will continue to play like young Brady. Led by a dangerous multi-headed rushing attack and a defense that has given quarterbacks fit’s all season. Zappe has been given the keys by Belichik. Who is relishing the challenge of having to compensate for less experienced quarterback play. If Zappe continues on this path seven or even eight Super Bowls are to be expected.
