Girona vs Barcelona Player Ratings

Barca travelled to the Estadi Montilivi to take on Girona in the third match of matchday 19.

Starting XI

Ter Stegen- 7/10 The German shot stopper was only tested twice throughout the game and saved his team both times.

Kounde- 7/10 Made some impressive interceptions and blocks to stop goal scoring opportunities. 

Araujo- 8/10  Another phenomenal performance from an outstanding player. Defensively resolute and even contributed to the attack with a few diagonal balls and progressive carries. 

Garcia- 6.5/10 Fairly quiet match from the former Man City defender as he was rarely tested but he stood up to be counted. He also completed the most passes in the match (77). 

Marcos Alonso- 5/10 The Spaniard didn’t overlap as much as expected and when he did, the quality wasn’t there. He was also substituted at half time. 

De Jong- 7.5/10 Very impressive performance from De Jong, particularly defensively. He was deployed further up the pitch in the second half and did well.

Gavi- 6.5/10 A typical Gavi performance. Operated between the lines, linked play and made line breaking runs when possible. 

Busquets- 7/10 Solid outing from the veteran midfielder. Quality in possession as per usual and made some crucial recoveries. 

Dembele- N/A Started off the game poorly with a few sloppy passes or tackles and went off after 25 minutes due to an injury. 

Fati- 5.5/10 Switched possessions after Dembele’s substitution and struggled to impact the match. 

Raphinha- 5/10 Had an exciting battle with Miguel throughout the match but failed to impact the match in any way. 

Subs-

Pedri- 7/10 He was subbed in for Dembele after 25 minutes and brought more control to the match and his goal turned out to be the winning goal. 

Jordi Alba- 7/10 His entrance brought more width to the team which helped Barca to stretch Girona more frequently. It was his cross that found Pedri for the opening goal. 

Balde- N/A

Kessie- N/A

Girona

Girona pushed for the equalizer until the end but failed to convert their chances when they came. They now sit in 12th position and face Valencia next in a crucial match.
