Quarterback Grayson McCall, who played for Coastal Carolina for the past four years, will transfer to North Carolina State, and play for the Wolfpack under head coach Dave Doeren. This is a massive upgrade for Doeren and the wolfpack, as Brennan Armstrong was a below-average quarterback.

For North Carolina State, they upgrade their weakest position on offense, from a team that went on to win nine games, ending on a five-game winning streak after the bye week. The Wolfpack finished third in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), one game away from an ACC title game berth. They finished one game above their projected win total of eight, and one spot up from their projected ACC standings finish of fourth, finishing third.

Grayson McCall had a better statistical year in 2022, as he passed for 2633 yards, 24 touchdowns, and two interceptions, having an outstanding twelve-to-one touchdown-to-interception ratio. McCall grew up in Indian Trail, North Carolina, so he is coming back to the place where he called home, having the pleasure to play in front of his hometown in his final collegiate football season.

McCall gives the wolfpack a mobile, accurate quarterback who has a big arm, having a big-play ability, something Armstrong did not have. With an elite defense on the other side, this could give the Wolfpack a fighting chance at an ACC championship title, as they have proven that they can beat Clemson already.

As it stands, the Wolfpack have a top-30 freshman class of 2024 and a top ten transfer portal class, which includes elite offensive guard Zeke Correll from Notre Dame and wide receiver from Wake Forest, Wesley Grimes. The defensive side of the ball, gets better, as they add three four-stars on defense, highlighted by linebacker Elijah Groves from East Robertson High School. McCall will have the opportunity to raise his draft stock next season, while pushing for a potential college football playoff appearance as it moves to 12 teams, and a possible ACC Championship berth.
