Harry Kane again showed a masterful performance in this week’s 2-0 victory against Chelsea when he scored the dagger to end the city rival’s hope of a comeback. Kane has reached 18 goals this season. But it isn’t getting discussed enough because Erling Haaland happens. But then, being overlooked and underestimated is the story of Harry Kane’s career up until now. Football fans should give Harry Kane his flowers.

One of the best Premier League players of all time

As mentioned, Kane has had 18 goals this season. Usually, that type of campaign is considered one of the best seasons for a striker, and he could even win the Premier League golden boot. But the appearance of Erling Haaland changed the trajectory of the golden boot race (forever) and overshadowed Harry Kane’s achievement.

And also, in this 2022/2023 Premier League campaign, he became only the third player in history to have 200 goals in the English top flight, joining the elite company of Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney. Rooney is only seven goals in front of the Tottenham star. And with the caliber of performance he is putting up, Kane could even surpass Rooney this season, playing nearly 190 games less.

He also has a decent international career and is the joint-top scorer with Wayne Rooney.

His achievement in the Premier League and English football is forever impressive.

A perfect striker overshadowed by “no title”

Harry Kane is the perfect mold of a modern-day striker. Not only is he a goal-scoring machine, but he can also assist his teammates. It is common to see Kane drops back into the midfield to receive the ball and advance it. He escapes the poacher role and evolves into more of a playmaking striker while keeping his knack for goals.

The only flawed aspect of his legendary career is his empty trophy cabinet. The fans have clowned Tottenham for a decade for not being able to win any titles. And their captain is at the forefront of the sharp tips of the memes, leading casual football fans to have a memic perception of Harry Kane and overlooking his talent and achievement.

Should Harry Kane leave Tottenham?

We all love a one-club legend, a rare scene in modern-day club football. Paolo Maldini, Francesco Totti, and Paul Scholes are adored by fans worldwide. But should Harry Kane follow the paths of these legends, or should he seek title-winning opportunities to solidify his legendary status?

If he stays at Tottenham, Harry Kane can overtake Alan Shearer as the undisputed top scorer in the Premier League and become that fan-favorite club legend.

If he leaves, numerous contending teams like Bayern Munich love his service and all-around playstyle, although he is nearly 30. In return, he can fill his empty cabinets with medals and trophies and get recognition from the fans.

But all in all, whether he chooses to stay or leave the club, he is still one of the top three strikers in the world and should get his much-deserved respect.
