Ime Udoka , the new head coach of the Houston Rockets, has reportedly set his sights on three assistant coaches from the Boston Celtics. The former Celtics coach was well liked during his tenure in Boston, so it is not surprising that he would turn to former colleagues when building out his team in Houston.

The Celtics are coming off a game seven loss to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, so it’s understandable that there would be some changes within the organization. Ben Sullivan, Aaron Miles and Mike Moser, who are assistant coaches in Boston, are likely to be part of Ime Udoka’s coaching staff for the Rockets during this offseason, according to The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn

After a brief stint as the Celtics coach, Udoka managed to guide the team towards an NBA Finals berth in 2021-22. However, due to his involvement in with a female colleague, he was suspended for the entire season of ’22-’23 by the organization. Joe Mazzulla took over as the interim head coach for the Celtics during Udoka’s suspension.

Can Ime Udoka Change the Game for Houston Rockets?

Bringing in experienced and talented assistant coaches could certainly help Ime Udoka in his efforts to turn around the Rockets Franchise. In the last season he coached, he reached the finals. So there are high hopes for him in Houston.

Houston also has the fourth pick in the upcoming NBA draft, which could be a game-changer for the team’s future. They could use the piece to trade for a star player or select a top prospect. There are also rumors that James Harden is willing to return to the Rockets, which could provide a significant boost to the team’s performance.

The Rockets were tied for last place in the West at 22-60 in the past season. With Ime Udoka as their new head coach and a potentially strong supporting staff, there may be room for significant improvements.
