This week sees the 3-2-1 Indianapolis Colts travel to the 3-2 Tennessee Titans in a battle for the lead in the division. The Titans won the first meeting 24-17 in Indianapolis. A Titans win means that Tennessee would hold control of the division. A Colts win keeps hope for a division title a bit more realistic. This should be a fun game for the early afternoon slate.

Colts preview

The Colts come in at 3-2-1 with a division record of 1-2-1. They have split with the Jaguars, tied with the Texans, and lost to the Titans. The way it looks now, the Colts have gotten all of their division losses out of the way. This game and a game with the Texans in the last week of the season are all the Colts have left. At best they will go 3-2-1. When it comes to winning the division, the Colts must win this game and hope the Titans lose a game or two down the road.

When it comes to the play, the Indianapolis Colts seem to be getting back on track. With no Jonathan Taylor, Matt Ryan threw the rock all over the yard to rack up 42 completions for 389 yards. Michael Pittman had career high catches with 13 and a career best 134 yards. Alec Pierce even got in on some of the action, and man does he look like he could be a stud.

How Colts Can Win

When it comes to the game this week, the Colts have to show up early. So far in every game this year the Colts have been slow starting in the first half. It would go a long way if the Colts could actually find themselves in a game at half and not clawing back out of a deficit. This can be done by the offense being a bit more efficient. With Taylor coming back potentially and the offense having some life, this week would be a perfect time to start.

The Colts defense is one of the best in the NFL right now. The issue with them the last few weeks is giving up the gashing run plays. If the Colts can do a bit better of bottling up the big run plays, they would be even more of an elite defense . This Colts D is one of the best at forcing three and outs in the league, as they are top three in that category. If they can bottle up Henry and force Ryan Tannehill to throw more, that is the best chance for them to win.

Titans preview

The Titans come in off a bye week and with the division lead at 1-0. With the Colts already playing so many of their division games already, Tennessee is sitting in a good spot. If the Titans win on Sunday, they will be 2-0 against the Colts, and basically the division is theirs to lose. A Titans win means that they would simply have to split with the rest of the division to be crowned AFC South champions.

Going into the game Sunday, the Titans would like to mirror what they did last time. Last time these two played, Derrick Henry had his way. He had 114 yards rushing and a touchdown to go with it. On the defensive end, the Titans D held Taylor to less than 50 yards and basically held the Colts offense down most of the game. The Titans have to get the ground game working. If they do not get it rolling, it might spell trouble for what the offense will be able to do.
